Shoes!...

It may seem shallow to write an entire journal entry about shoes, but the impact for me is so deep.

Me and my ex decided to go shopping together at the Mall of America. While there we stopped in at DSW shoes, a VERY large shoe outlet with about 800-1,000 different pairs of shoes.

"Maybe you are a 9 or 9-1/2?"

"Are you kidding me? No way, I am more like an 11...I wear men's size 10 now..."

So, we went down the shoe aisles and couldn't find anything that was size 11, but plenty of size 10s.

"Why don't you try on a 10 and see if they fit? A 10 won't be a special order shoe, it will be at almost all retailers but a little harder to find. At least you wouldn't have to special order your shoes."

Well, with reluctance I tried on a size 10...

AND IT FIT!!!

I couldn't believe it, I even looked at the box, and than the display to make sure it said "Women's" and it did! My feet were small enough length-wise to fit into them without too much discomfort at all. Now, I know people are going to say, "You shouldn't have any discomfort in your shoes"

But, I have been using a variation of the "Chinese Foot Binding" technique to help make my feet smaller without deformity. All I want is to be a size 10, that is plenty small for a 6' tall woman. The length of my foot is fine, but my feet are a bit wider, not much. Soooo... In my efforts to bring me down to a women's 10 width I am wearing the shoes around the house for an hour or so at a time to help contract my foot width. I know this technique works because I used to be a men's 11-1/2!

It takes time, painful time. What's a little pain for beauty? Twisted beauty? Who knows, but I guess I am falling further into that trap that catches all women...
